Nepal Youth Business Initiative

NYBI was born, inspired by and modeled after the Price of Wales
Youth Business Initiative (YBI) in UK. With a vision to address
the critical issue of youth unemployment, NYEF with support of
FNCCI initiated this program. NYBI is committed to promote entrepreneurship
development among under privileged and disadvantaged youth by
developing their business ideas into viable enterprises under
the guidance of a mentor.
Objectives
Ø To assist disadvantaged youth to develop their viable
business ideas to enterprise
Ø To develop capacity and skills of youth to make them
able to sustain in an employment oriented jobs
Ø To reduce unemployment gaps by promoting entrepreneurship
along with leadership and innovation
Whom do we help?
Ø Young People (18 - 35 Yrs.)
Ø Disadvantaged - No Alternate Resources ( grass root level
under the program is defined as people having income of Nrs. 7,000.00
or less per family per month )
Ø Viable Business Idea
Ø Will to Succeed
What NYBI Provides?
Ø Finance: Loans Up to Nrs. 50,000.00 – Nrs. 1,50,000.00
with 5% interest on the principal per annum
Ø Mentors: Business Advisors
Current Status
Trustee: NYBI currently has a board of trustees comprising
of 11 members. The two honorary memberships are reserved in NYBI
trustee’s board for the Past President- FNCCI and President
NYEF.
Entrepreneur Selection Panel (ESP): NYBI has ESP panel
comprising of 16 members from various areas and backgrounds. At
the moment, few of the ESP members are keen to be mentors to the
first group of entrepreneurs.
NYBI is on the process of expanding their pool for mentors.
Entrepreneurs: NYBI has successfully selected first
group of entrepreneurs to disperse loan and mentor to help them
start their business. The first group of entrepreneurs comprise
of 4 members. NYBI is on the process of dispersing loan and mentor
to the first group of entrepreneurs. Following are the brief detail
of selected entrepreneurs and their respective business areas:
i. Ms. Arpana Rajbhandari – Manufacturing: Titaura Production
ii. Ms. Jani Dali – Manufacturing: Pickle Production
iii. Ms. Nanu Kunwar- Business Service: Beauty Parlor
iv. Mr. Rajendra Maharjan- Manufacturing: Mushroom Production
NYBI has also selected 2nd group of entrepreneurs and it comprises
of 3 individuals. The project will be supporting them with required
seed capital and a mentor to guide them.
Education Beyond
Project Incharge: Mr. Anmol Singh
Members Involved: Mr.Vinayak Prasad,
Mr. Mangesh Lal Shrestha, Mr. Varun Lohia, Mr. Santosh Dhakal.
Objectives:
Ø To maintain the quality in the traditional education
system and to equip the students with realistic ways of learning.
Ø To provide the practical knowledge as well as the vocational
training to the higher-level students (esp. for +2 and Bachelor
level students
Ø To provide apprenticeship, assistantship/scholarship
programs for those students who are efficient but not economically
strong.
Activities:
Ø To arrange educational trips or visits in the different
industries of Nepal.
Ø To provide scholarships and sponsorships to the efficient
and outstanding but financially challenged students.
Ø To provide apprenticeships program, on the job training
for a month for the qualified students on their respective field
of interest.
Ø To organize different educational programs, contests,
competitions for the different level of students.
Young Achievers' Award (YAA):
Members Involved: Mr. Gaurav Agarwal,
Mr. Mangesh Lal Shrestha, Mr. Bishal Gautam, Mr. Suhrid Jyoti,
Anish Kabra.
YAA is a tribute to the efforts, achievements and contribution
of the young generation to the society. NYEF has taken this initiation
to recognize their effort, achievement and contributions to motivate
and encourage the youth of Nepal.
The prime objective of this event is to encourage the budding
talents of Nepal who have contributed to the society and economy
a lot. This award system will be held every year. The achievers’
of the award can be from any specialized area. The candidate might
be an entrepreneur, might have contributed to the education, environment
or social activities.
Peace Campaign
Project Incharge: Mr. Anish Kabra
NYEF has launched the National Peace Symbol- with support from
FNCCI as a part of their joint campaign for peace on 27th June
2004 at the Pasang Lhamu Mountaineering Foundation, Shankha Park.
Motto:
The campaign with the motto, "Nepaliko Chahana, Shanti ko
Sthapana"; will serve as a reminder to the people at large
for the need of peace and at the same time will motivate the people
of Nepal not to give up the hope of seeing a peaceful Nepal in
the future.
Activities:
NYEF has created various items displaying the symbol like banners,
T-shirts, car/bike stickers to take the campaign ahead
Many corporate houses and organizations have already put up banners
displaying the symbol. The symbol has also placed up in some public
areas (esp. Maitighar Area).
Many of the organizations have already printed the symbol in
their letterheads, visiting cards, stationeries, posters, pamphlets
and the wrappings of their products.
IT Projects:
Members Involved: Mr. Mangesh Lal Shrestha,
Mr. Dileep Agarwal
With an aim to explore the Information Technology (IT) field,
NYEF is planning to start a program related to IT implications.
