Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs' Forum (NYEF)

The YES-NYEF Pokhara Chapter team believes in creation of new knowledge relevant to their field of work and finding solutions to their problems simultaneously enabling them to make a mark in society by capitalizing on such knowledge. In line with this motto, we are organizing a Young Entrepreneurs’ Conference that shall progressively address these issues along with some other pertinent topics of practical importance. The program was of three nights, 2 days, residential type held on Shangri-La Village Resort, Pokhara, from 14th to 16th December 2006. Major highlights were speeches by two distinguished speakers on the two topics the theme of “Made in Nepal – Future Challenges”, its relevance, its need, actions required for its eventual practice and the role of young entrepreneurs over the realization and “Comparative and Competitive advantages of Nepal”.

The second day was a workshop, freeform discussion with moderators that figured out an outcome which was presented and briefly discussed. Apart from the two major speakers, there were also 4 keynote speakers from the following 4 fields:

• Nepal’s Advantages in Natural Resources.
• Prospectus of Nepal as transit between India-China
• Prospects of Industries & Services in Nepal
• Prospects of Indigenous Products for Export

Each presentation was followed by remarks from experts from different organizations and Q & A. Finally, 3 different groups were formed for group discussion. Each group was assigned a moderator to facilitate the discussion with the responsibility of recommending functional strategies for the promotion of enterprises in these fields. The group findings were presented in the floor for further discussion and final resolution.
